WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State sophomore
Chairo Ogbebor raced to a new program record in the 60 meters, winning the Coach Wilson Invitational on Saturday in the Heskett Center.

The Halton Hills, Ontario, Canada native ran 6.65 on the Shockers' home track, breaking
Jaleel Montgomery's record set a season ago.
Jason Parrish finished 0.01 seconds behind him to claim the No. 2 spot in Wichita State history with a time of 6.66. He also went on to win the 600 meters with the fifth-fastest time in school history, 1:21.68.

Earlier in the week, freshman
Cole Smither picked up his first collegiate victory to kick off the Coach Wilson Invitational, winning the heptathlon with 5,098 points (pre-conversion). He recorded the top mark of the competition in four events, coming out on top in the 60 meters, long jump, high jump, 60-meter hurdles and1,000 meters to break the 5,000-point barrier in his second-ever heptathlon.

On Friday, the Shockers claimed three more wins, starting with
Jelese Alexander's women's long jump win. The senior transfer from Southern Mississippi jumped a personal-best 5.89m/19'4" to win the event, and
Kennady Washington took second with a mark of 5.54m/18'2". Alexander went on to finish second in the 60 meters on Saturday with the fifth-best time in school history, 7.53.
Josh Parrish and
Travon Williams also went 1-2 in the men's long jump, both jumping 7.32m/24'0.25"

The Shockers went 1-2-3 in the women's 3,000 meters as
Faith Ekart claimed the win in 10:21.88, and
Emily See and
Kalyn Willingham finished behind her in second and third, respectively.

In the weight throw,
Karlynn Hornung threw a two-foot personal best of 16.43m/53'11", the No. 9 mark in program history, to place fourth in the women's competition, and
Beau Kerschen threw over 18 meters for the third-straight meet to place second in the men's competition (18.11m/59'5").

On Saturday, the Shockers went 1-2-3 to sweep both the men's and women's hurdles.
Josh Parrish won the men's race in 7.76 with
Tyler Carroll finishing second with a season-best time of 7.87 and
Jabari Armstrong taking third with the ninth-fastest time in program history, 7.96.
Courtney Wilborn won the women's race with a personal-best time of 8.70,
Keely Hoback finished second in 8.73, and
Cali Kerschen ran a personal-best time of 8.75 to take third.

Two Shocker freshmen went 1-2 in the men's pole vault as
Liam Miller and Tybee both cleared 4.84m/15'10.5".
Sonya Haylor won the triple jump with a leap of 11.75m/38'6.5", and
Jasmine Stiede won the 800 meters with a time of 2:17.45, while
Audrey Parson ran the second-fastest 600-meter time, 1:34.83, to take second.
Sadie Millard claimed the final win of the meet, claiming the 200-meter title with a time of 25.50.
