Shocker Track and Field Wraps Up Weekend in Lincoln

2/8/2020 6:21:00 PM

LINCOLN, Neb.—The Wichita State track and field teams wrapped up the weekend's competition at the second day of the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational.

Rebekah Topham set a new personal best in the Mile on the way a victory. She ran 4:45.72 to improve on her already No. 3 time in school history.

Adam Moore finished as the second fastest collegian in the men's Mile. His time of 4:08.50 sits just outside the Shockers' all-time top 10.

Yazmine Wright finished with a season-best time of 2:12.37 in the 800 meters to finish 10th.

Overall, distance coach Kirk Hunter thought the meet was up and down.

"I thought Clayton Duchastchek and Ethan Kossover opened up the meet well last night with their 5,000-meter runs and we had some good performances overall. We also had some places where we fell down.

"Basically it was a good meet for us, but I expected us to have some bigger jumps in performances at this meet. Hopefully we will continue to grow on this and have even better performances leading into the conference championships."

The Shockers return to action Friday for a trio of meets: the Iowa State Classic, Gorilla Classic and Tyson Invitational.
