TOPEKA, Kan. – Wichita State's men's 4x400-meter relay team concluded the Ichabod Invitational with a school record and a win Saturday evening in the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility.
Joakim Genereux,
Josh Parrish,
Hudson Bailey and
Jason Parrish ran 3:10.60 to win the relay, breaking a 16-year old school record previously held by Chris Dickman, Jared Foley, Dylan Hartnett and Justin Smith.
"We've known we have the potential for a good 4x400 this year, but haven't been able to put it together on the same day," sprints/hurdles coach
John Wise said. "This week we were without two of our top guys, but
Josh Parrish and
Hudson Bailey stepped in and ran incredibly well to complement
Joakim Genereux and
Jason Parrish. We feel like this is just the beginning for what the team can do in the relay this year, but it's exciting to see this happen today and get the school record. We feel like our entire team has nice momentum heading towards conference, and this was a great way to end the Washburn meet."
The 4x400 win was one of six event wins for the Shockers and one of six Wichita State all-time top 10 performances for the weekend.
On day one of the Ichabod Invitational,
Jason Parrish ran the 10
th-fastest 200-meter time in school history, running 21.68 to finish 10
th. Genereux finished sixth in the race with a time of 21.42. His twin Josh went on to win the 60-meter hurdles final with a personal-best time of 7.78, the second-fastest time in the American Athletic Conference this season and the No. 3 time in school history.
Tyler Carroll finished third with a time 7.89.
In the weight throw, two Shocker men threw season bests, with
Athan Huelskamp launching one 19.72m/64'8.5" to place second and
Loudan Hicks throwing a personal-best 19.51m/64'0.25" to take fourth, good for No. 4 and 5 in the AAC and No. 8 and 9 in school history.
On the women's side, Arantxa Cortex cleared a personal-best 4.04m/13'3" in the pole vault to move up to No. 4 in the conference. The Shocker women's 4x400-meter relay team of

Lexi Gagnon and
Sadie Millard clocked a time of 3:45.57, the No. 10 time in school history to win the final race of the meet.
Wichita State swept the distance medley relays with
Jonah Allison,
Holden Atwood,
Trace Spires and
Cesar Ramirez winning the men's race in 10:11.49, and
Lea Jerkovic,
Lexi Gagnon,
Audrey Parson and
Jenna Muma winning the women's race in 12:07.09.
Faith Turner, Brown, Parson,
Kalyn Willingham and
Destiny Masters all claimed top-three finishes for the Shockers in the 60 meters, 200 meters, mile and high jump, respectively.
Over at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.,
Yared Kidane was the lone Shocker to compete. He raced in the invite section of the 800 meters, running the second-fastest time in school history and No. 1 time in the AAC, clocking 1:48.20 to finish 14
th in a strong field. His time is second in Wichita State history only to two-time NCAA champion Einars Tupuritis.
The Shockers travel to Fayetteville, Ark. on Friday, Feb. 21 for one last tune up before the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 28-March 1.
