2024-25 (Senior): Indoor – Threw in seven meets, recording seven top-five finishes…Threw 16.44m/53’11.25” to take second in the shot put and 18.97m/62’3” to take second in the weight throw at the KU-KSU-WSU Triangular...Took second at the Ichabod Invitational with a season-best weight throw mark of 19.72m/64’8.5”…Placed fourth in the weight throw with a throw of 19.03m/62’5.25” and seventh in the shot put with a season-best throw of 16.73m/54’10.75” at the AAC Indoor Championships, scoring seven points for the team.
Outdoor – Competed in nine meets, claiming two wins and 10 top-five finishes…Won the shot put at the Friends Spring Open and the discus at the Shocker Open…Recorded a season best of 54.27m/178’1” in the discus at the Rock Chalk Classic…Took fourth in the shot put with a season-best mark of 17.03m/55’10.5” and sixth in the discus with a mark of 52.92m/173’7” at the AAC Outdoor Championships, scoring eight points for the team.
2023-24 (at ACU): Indoor – Competed in five meets for the Wildcats, claiming three event wins…Opened his season with a weight throw win at the JD Martin Invitational, throwing 19.62m/64’4.5”…Claimed the WAC weight throw title with a season-best throw of 20.37m/66’10” and placed fourth in the WAC shot put with a season-best throw of 16.38m/53’9”. Outdoor – Threw in 10 meets, recording eight top-three performances…Threw a season-best 53.53m/175’11” in the discus to win the War Hawk Classic…Recorded a season-best 17.59m/57’8.5” in the shot put to take fifth at the Corky/Crofoot Shootout…Claimed the WAC discus title and placed third in the shot put at the outdoor championships…Qualified to the NCAA West Preliminaries in the shot put, where he finished 45
th with a throw of 16.50m/54’1.75”.
2022-23 (at ACU): Indoor – Competed in five meets for the Wildcats…Took second in the Washburn Open weight throw, fourth in the TTU Jarvis Scott Invitational shot put, and third in the Matador Qualifier shot put…Placed second in the weight throw at the WAC Indoor Championship with a new PR of 18.94m/62’1.75” and took fourth in the shot.
Outdoor – Competed in eight meets during the season, placing third in the Wes Kittley shot put, fourth in the TTU Masked Rider shot put and discus, second in the shot put with a PR of 17.13m/56’2.5” and fourth in the discus at the David Noble Relays, and winning the Oliver Jackson Twilight shot put…After an injury during the next-to-last meet of the outdoor season, came back to finish second in the shot put at the WAC Outdoor Championship, throwing on an injured foot.
2021-22 (at AACU): Indoor – Competed in four meets…At the WAC Indoor Championship, he was 10
th in the shot put and 18
th in the weight throw.
Outdoor – Placed sixth in the Oliver Jackson Twilight discus…Placed fifth in the Masked Rider Open hammer throw in Lubbock…Took seventh in the discus and 14
th in the shot put at the WAC Outdoor Championships.
2020-21 (at ACU): Indoor – at the SLC indoor championship, he was 4
th in the WT and 6
th in the SP – the indoor season was a redshirt year due to the pandemic for all T&F athletes.
Outdoor – redshirted this season.
High School: Competed for Saint Viator High School…Had his HS senior year scuttled by the cancelling of the track season due to the pandemic, but in his HS junior year he was runner-up in the Illinois 2A shot put and discus and that year (2019), he was ranked #102 among all HS discus throwers in the U.S. Athan was Male Athlete of the Year at St Viator and would leave HS as the school record holder in both the SP and DT. In 2019, competing in the AAU Junior Olympic Nationals 17-18-year-old division, he finished 5
th in the SP and 7
th in the DT.
Personal: Son of Tim and Angela…Has three siblings, Natasha, Rebecca and Alex…Father, Tim, is a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Kansas…Majoring in Sport Management at Wichita State.
