LAWRENCE, Kan. – Wichita State recorded six Shocker all-time top-10 marks and three event titles to complete the 92nd Kansas Relays, Saturday afternoon at Rock Chalk Park.

After advancing nearly a dozen athletes to Saturday's finals, Wichita State finished with three event titles. Multiple Shockers recorded all-time top-10 marks in their respective events, including three marks in the women's 200m dash.

Aaron True started things off hot for the Shockers in dominating fashion, the All-American won the javelin with a season best throw of 75.33m/247-1. His mark currently ranks No. 3 in the nation and he improved his No. 1 ranking in The American.

True has won all three javelin competitions entered in the 2019 season, including throws of over 70m in each appearance.

After running the fastest preliminary 400m hurdle time of 51.73 on Friday,
Austin Corley bettered his performance winning the finals with a season best time of 50.90. Corley has won the 400m hurdles in three of four meets, including back-to-back weekends.

In the last event of the meet, the men's 4x400m team held off a late surge from Kansas to finish on a high note winning the race in 3:10.51. The group of Corley,
Jace Coppoc,
Adam Gauzy and
Rayvon Allen recorded a Shocker season leading time and currently ranks No. 2 in the American Athletic Conference.
Despite not winning an event on the final day, the Shocker women recorded six Wichita State all-time top-10 marks.

After qualifying three Shockers from Friday's 200m preliminaries, the group of
Paula Garcia,
Jacque Darby and
Taniyah McMillian did not disappoint in Saturday's finals. All three Shockers recorded personal bests and all-time top-10 marks.

Garcia led the group finishing fourth overall with the third fastest time in Shocker history of 23.66.
Jacque Darby improved her all-time top-10 mark moving to No. 7 finishing fifth in the finals with a time of 23.89, while
Taniyah McMillian added the eighth fastest 200m time of 24.07 to her Shocker resume. McMillian placed seventh overall in the race.

The sprints group was not done after that performance, the 4x400m women's team of
Tianna Holmes,
Daysha Bullocks, Darby and McMillian placed third with the fourth fastest time of 3:41.86 in Shocker history. The group currently ranks No. 3 in the American Athletic Conference.

Holmes also recorded the seventh fastest 400m time of 55.13, she placed sixth in the event.

Kelsey Slawson represented the Shocker women in field events, the senior became just the fifth Shocker to join the 50m+ club after finishing seventh in the discus with the fifth best mark in school history of 50.32m/165-1. Slawson ranks No. 2 in The American.

Other notable performances include, the women's 4x100m team finishing second in 45.97,
Yazmine Wright running 2:14.17 to place third in the 800m,
Winny Koskei placing fifth in the 1500m with a personal best time of 4:38.78 and
Claudia Rojo finishing fourth in the 400m hurdles finals with a Shocker season leading time of 1:02.42.

Notable performances on the men's side include, a second place finish by
Zack Penrod in the 800m with a time of 1:52.12 and
Mason Buckmaster jumping 2.01m/6-7 to place third in the high jump.

Multiple fourth place finishes by
Cory Martens in the shot put (16.67m/54-8.25),
Hayden Bugner in pole vault (5.10m/16-8.75),
Cauy Lindsay in javelin (57.70m/189-4) and
Joseph Holthusen in the 110m hurdles finals (14.36). The men's 4x100 team finished fifth with a time of 42.27.

UP NEXT
Wichita State will split sending the majority of the team to the Red Raider Shootout in Lubbock, Texas, on April 26, while the top distance runners will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to compete at the Drake Relays on April 24-27.
