LAWRENCE, Kan. – Wichita State recorded eight top-10 finishes on day two of the 92nd Kansas Relays, Thursday, April 18, at Rock Chalk Park.

With only a dozen Shockers in action, Wichita State recorded eight top-10 finishes. The men's distance group highlighted the day recording five top-10 finishes, including a second place finish by
Jed Helker.

A week after setting two personal bests at the K.T. Woodman, Helker continues to stay hot on the track. The true freshman ran a personal best and Shocker season leading 800m time of 1:54.07 to finish second in the unseeded race. Teammates
Connor Stine and
Jason Landon each finished in the top-10, Stine in eighth (1:56.61) and Landon in 10th (1:56.99).

Helker wasn't the only Shocker to post a personal best on the track, sophomore
Ethan Kossover shaved five seconds off his previous best finishing sixth in the 1500m unseeded race with a time of 4:01.10. Fellow Shocker
Cory Landon followed in eighth place with a time of 4:01.80.

In the field events, Shocker throwers
Cory Martens and
Isaiah Evans each recorded top-10 finishes in the men's hammer throw. Martens led the way placing eighth with a mark of 56.73m/186-1, while Evans finished ninth with a throw of 54.62m/179-2.

After finishing day one of the heptathlon with 2,715 points, Mario Romero continued her steady streak finishing the two-day event in eighth with a personal best score of 4,369 points. She finished sixth in the long jump (5.14m/16-10.5), 12th in the javelin (24.59m/80-8) and fourth in the 800m (2:30.98).

Cassidy Androff finished 13th in the women's hammer throw with a personal best mark of 45.37m/148-10.

Day three of the relays continues on Friday, April 19, with multiple Shockers in action. Running events begin at 10:15 a.m., followed by field events at 1:00 p.m.
