WICHITA – Wichita State Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Steve Rainbolt announced the addition of six-time All-American and Shocker alumna Destiny Masters to his coaching staff Tuesday afternoon.
 
"I am really excited to have Destiny Masters come 'back home' and rejoin Shocker track and field as one of our coaches," Rainbolt said. "After having such an incredible, decorated career, she will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to help our athletes. I'm confident that the athletes in our program will benefit greatly from the guidance that Destiny will provide."
 
As a Wichita State student-athlete from 2020-25, Masters was a six-time All-American, earning first team recognition in the pentathlon and second team honors three times in the high jump and twice in the heptathlon. She is a four-time American Conference champion and was named the 2024 American Conference Indoor Championship Most Valuable Performer. Masters holds the Shockers' indoor high jump and pentathlon records and was the 2024 Wichita Sports Commission College Female Athlete of the Year.
 
Masters joins the Shockers after spending the 2025-26 season as an assistant coach at Butler Community College, where she helped coach the Grizzlies to 28 NJCAA All-America awards between cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field.
 
"I am very excited to be returning to Wichita State," Masters said. "Working with the staff is going to be a blast, and I'm looking forward to learning from them in a coaching aspect while helping mold the younger athletes into the athletes they will become."
