FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The men's team swept the javelin,
Austin Corley ran an NCAA leading time in the 400m hurdles and the women set four total personal records.
Senior All-American
Damien Odle led the men in the javelin winning the event with a throw of 67.87m/222-8, his first victory since winning the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Championship. Odle redshirted the 2017 season after suffering an injury in the summer of 2016.
"It feels good to get a win," Odle said. "I know there is a lot left inside of me and there are still a few things I need to put together before I get some big throws."
True Freshman
Taran Taylor battled back and forth with Odle to finish second with a personal best 67.25m/220-7, a mark that registers as the 10th furthest in Shocker history. After the first round of throws, Odle led with a mark of 62.54m. Taylor battled back in the second round of throws taking the lead with a mark of 65.64m and would hold on to the lead until the final round of throws when Odle recorded a mark of 67.87m to win the event.

We all push each other to throw further and having several guys throw in the high 60m is hard to find. I'm fortunate to train with and learn from this great group of javelin throwers."
