WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State's men's and women's track and field teams won the Herm Wilson Invitational and junior
Kelsey Slawson set a school record in the shot put.
Ever since Slawson became a Shocker it was always her goal to hit the 50-foot mark, today she set a school record winning the shot put with a mark of 15.29m/50-2. The only other time she has hit the 50-foot mark was in an intrasquad meet, today it was official.
"My goals since I've gotten here was to hit 50 feet," said Slawson. "It was huge for me to finally do it, I was focused during off-season training which really helped with the big improvement."
She led the women's shot put group who finished three in the top five, including senior

The women weren't the only throwers who had big marks, junior college transfer

Weston Cottrell.
"
Isaiah Evans had a big improvement," Hetzendorf said. "First time over 60-feet in the weight throw. He had three throws over his previous personal best, if he can put some things together I think we can get some even bigger throws yet this year."
