FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Wichita State's
Josh Parrish punched his ticket in the long jump to the NCAA Outdoor Championships and broke the 110-meter hurdles school record to lead the Shockers on day one of the NCAA West Preliminaries Wednesday afternoon at John McDonnell Field.

The junior from Olathe, Kan. qualified to his second-straight national championship in the long jump, claiming the 12
th qualifying position with a jump of 7.68m/25'2.5". A couple hours prior, Parrish broke the school record in the 110 hurdles with the third-fastest time of the day, 13.31 to advance to Friday's quarterfinals. Junior
Tyler Carroll also advanced to the quarterfinals with the No. 6 time in school history, 13.76, finishing 21
st overall, and freshman
Jabari Armstrong wrapped up a successful first collegiate season, finishing 37
th with a time of 14.08.

Also advancing to Friday's quarterfinals, junior
Jason Parrish won his 400-meter hurdles prelim with a time of 50.65, the 13
th-best time of the day.

In the 100-meter dash,
Chairo Ogbebor just missed the quarterfinal, finishing 26
th with a time of 10.30, but he will be back to run on Wichita State's 4x100-meter relay on Friday.

Sophomore
Travon Williams concluded his season with a 33
rd-place performance in the long jump, jumping 7.28m/23'10.75", and sophomore Elkana Kipruto wrapped up a historic first season with the Shockers with a 16
th-place finish in the 10,000 meters, running 29:10.13.
