WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita State women's golf team looks to make it four Missouri Valley Conference Championship titles in a row when they head to Cape Girardaeu, Mo., April 16-18.

Picked as the tournament favorites in the pre-championship coaches poll, the Shockers are looking to become only the second team in MVC history to win four championships in a row after receiving five of the 10 first place votes and enter the tournament as the league's top-rated team in the Golfstat head-to-head team ratings.

Taryn Torgerson, Gavrilla Arya, Laine Evans, Maria Alejandra Villalobos and Michelle Ledermann will make up the five-person Shocker team with the top four individual scores contributing to the team total.

An MVC Golfer of the Year nominee, Torgerson leads The Valley in stroke average after winning three competitions this season and is set to break the Shockers single-season stroke average record and 54-hole season average, both of which she owns and set last season. Arya and Ledermann also rank in the top-10 in The Valley for stroke average while Ledermann is also nominated for the MVC Newcomer of the Year award for her performances this year.

Held at the par-72, 6,214 yard, Dalhousie Golf Club, the tournament will be played over three days with round one beginning on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start. Round two will begin on Monday at 10:00 a.m. with the third and final round beginning on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. with the medalist ceremony to follow at the conclusion of play.

The Missouri Valley Conference champions will receive this seasons automatic bid to one of four NCAA Regional sites which include Athens, Ga., Columbus, Ohio, Lubbock, Texas, and Albuquerque, N.M. held May 8-10 with the NCAA Division I Championship held in Sugar Grove, Ill., May 19-24.

Last season, Torgerson became only the third Shocker to take home the MVC individual championship after carding a 2-under 214 for the 54-hole event and was also the second best individual score in MVC history. As a team Wichita State set an all-time MVC women's golf championship record with a team total of 884 en-route to their third-straight MVC title. Torgerson and Arya both picked up All-Conference honors alongside Bryce Schroeder and Megan Jack. Head coach Tom McCurdy was named as The Valley's Coach of the Year while Arya was named as Newcomer of the Year.
