RIO VERDE, Ariz. - The Wichita State women's golf team has finished tied for second place at the Rio Verde Invitational, their best finish so far this year. The team shot a 302 in the final round today, bringing their total to 896. Toledo won the Invitational with a score of 885.

 

Freshman Gavrilla Arya had the best performance of her career so far as a Shocker, finishing tied for fourth place. Arya shot 71-73-76 for a total of 220, good for +4 strokes over par. Her 71 is a career low, and she earned her first career top-ten finish.

 

Senior Meghan Jack finished tied for 11th place after carding scores of 74-76-73 for a total of 223. Jack finished +7 strokes over par. This is her 12th career top-20 finish.

 

Senior Bryce Schroeder earned her 15th career top-20 finish after shooting 80-70-74-224 to finish tied for 15th place. Schroeder was +8 strokes over par.

 

Sophomore Taryn Torgerson finished tied for 44th place. Torgerson carded scores of 75-75-80, totaling 230. Torgerson finished +14 strokes over par.

 

Junior Maria Alejandra Villalobos shot 80-78-79-237 to finish tied for 69th place. Villalobos was +21 strokes over par.

 

The Shockers will head to McAllen, Texas on March 7-9 to compete in the U. of Texas Rio Grande Valley Invitational.
