LINCOLN, Neb. -- Wichita State's men'sand women's track and field teams won five individual titles Saturday at the Mark Colligan Memorial Indoor meet in the Devaney Indoor Facility en route to second-place team finishes in the team-scored event.
The Wichita State men scored 123 points to finish second behind Nebraska (195), and ahead of Colorado State (96) and Illinois State (95). The Shocker women were also second to Nebraska (164) with 132 points, defeating Colorado State (131) and Illinois State (96).
Jamesia Milton won the weight throw with a toss of 66-10, while the men's weight throwers had the top three throws on the day led by Weston Cottrell's 64-8.75. Skylar Arneson followed with a 63-1.25 and Taylor Goldsmith had the third-best throw with a 61-5.5. Milton was also fifth in the shot with a throw of 45-1.75.Taylor Larch-Miller won the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.46,
Rebekah Topham won the 800 meters with a time of 2:14.74 and
Sidney Hirsch won the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:01.78.
Natalie Halfman earned runner-up honors in the 400 meters with a time of 57.30, while
Jared Belardo was second in the triple jump with a distance of 48-11. He also finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 22-1.5.
Breanne Borman earned a third place finish in the long jump with a distance of 18-8, while
Chris Peters was third for the men in the pole vault with a height of 16-7.25.
Ugis Jocis also finished third in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.32, and
Paul Raymond was third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:45.74.
The Shockers earned a bevy of fourth-place finishes, including
Ashley Petersen in the high jump (5-5),
Annette Hodges in the triple jump (38-4.25),
Emilea Finley in the mile (4:57.29),
Claudia Rojo in the 600 meters (1:38.94),
Zach Loesch in the shot (54-4), and
Garret Lynch in the high jump (6-11).
Wichita State is next in action this weekend at the Jack Jarrett Invitational in Cedar Falls, Iowa, while a portion of the team is scheduled to compete at Pittsburg State on Friday.
