WICHITA – Wichita State graduate Desiraye (Osburn) Speer was named as part of the Missouri Valley Conference 2026 Hall of Fame class, the conference announced Wednesday morning.

Osburn competed for the Shockers from 2002-06, finishing her career as a four-time All-American and becoming one of the most decorated distance runners in Missouri Valley Conference history. She set MVC all-time records in four indoor and outdoor events and received multiple most outstanding performer awards.

Osburn won the 2005 NCAA Midwest Cross Country Regional, qualifying to her second-straight NCAA Cross Country Championship. She finished 26th at the national meet to earn All-American recognition. During her senior indoor season, she was named the MVC Indoor Championship Most Valuable Athlete as well as the MVC Indoor Championship Most Outstanding Track Athlete, winning titles in the mile, 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters and setting MVC and Wichita State records in the mile and 3,000 meters. She qualified to the NCAA Indoor Championship in both the mile and 3,000 meters, placing eighth and 14th, respectively, and earning All-America honors in the mile. During her senior outdoor season, Osburn won to MVC Outdoor Championship titles, one in the 1500 meters and one in the 5,000 meters, again setting school and conference records in both events. She went on to qualify to the NCAA Outdoor Championship in the 5,000 meters, where she finished fourth to claim All-America Status once again. Osburn was named the Greater Wichita Sports Commission College Female Athlete of the Year following her senior season.

As a junior, Osburn won the MVC indoor mile title and finished runner-up in the 3,000 meters before winning the outdoor 1500-meter title and finishing runner-up in the 800 meters. She finished seventh at the NCAA Outdoor Championship in the 5,000 meters, good for her first career All-America award. During her sophomore season, she recorded three top-three finishes in the conference.

After her collegiate career came to a close, Osburn was sponsored by New Balance and represented Team USA four times in cross country and track. She was also named to the MVC Cross Country and Track and Field All-Centennial Teams. In 2012, she was inducted into the Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame.
