RALEIGH, N.C. – In his first outdoor race in two years in a Wichita State uniform,
Adrian Diaz Lopez set a new program record in the 5,000 meters Friday evening at the Raleigh Relays.
The redshirt-senior from Spain ran 13:54.25 to finish sixth in his heat and 42
nd overall, breaking Brady Johnson's record of 14:03.58 from 2015. He's the first-ever Shocker to run sub-14 minutes and holds the second-fastest time this season in the American Athletic Conference behind Tulane's Silas Kiptanui.
Also at the Raleigh Relays,
Yared Kidane ran a conference lead in the 1500 meters, clocking a time of 3:45.60 to rank eighth all-time in Wichita State history. In the 10,000 meters,
Adam Rzentkowski moved up to No. 3 in Shocker history with a time of 29:38.57 and ranks fourth in the conference standings.
