WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State women's tennis head coach
Colin Foster announced the signing of Kazakhstan native, Sati Aubakirova to the team's 2024 signing class on Monday afternoon.
Coach Foster is excited to add Aubakirova to next year's team.
"We had an instant connection with Sati when we started recruiting her," said Foster. "She clearly has a passion and enthusiasm for the game and will add to our positive team culture."
Aubakirova has a career high ITF Junior ranking of #583 and is currently ranked #637. She has won a plethora of junior singles and doubles titles, including the ITF Junior 30K event in Astana, Kazakhstan in November of 2023, defeating all five of her opponents in straight sets to win the title.
"Sati has extensive experience competing internationally, winning multiple ITF Doubles titles and her singles results continue to trend upwards," said Foster. "She is continuing to transition from more ITF Junior events to Women's events where she is being tested against some of the best players in the world."
Aubakirova is a four-time ITF Junior Doubles champion and is a two-time quarterfinalist in the Kazakh National Championship.
A native of Almaty, Kazakhstan, Aubakirova is the first signee in the women's tennis 2024 class.
