COLUMBIA, Mo. - Freshman
Mackenzie Wilson continued her solid play with a top 15 finish at the Johnie Imes Invitational.
As a team, Wichita State finished 12th behind rounds of 308, 306 and 301 and a total score of 915 (+51). Missouri claimed the team title at 13-over par.
In just her second collegiate tournament, Wilson now has a top 15 finish to go along with a top five placing at the Payne Stewart Memorial. The freshman saved her best round for last, carding an even-par 72 in Wednesday's final 18 holes. She finished tied for 14th at 6-over par, 222.
Megan Lucas was a model of consistency in Columbia, turning in a 5-over par, 77 in all three rounds to tie for 42nd at 15-over par, 231.
Mar Vidal was in the hunt for a spot in the top 20 after 36 holes, but had a tough final 18 holes. Vidal finished tied for 61st behind a 19-over par, 235 (75-76-84).
Madison Slayton and
Sarah Lawson came in tied for 65th at 20-over par, 236. Slayton tied a career low round with a 3-over par, 75, on Wednesday.
Brooklyn Benn competed as an individual, placing 83rd at 34-over par.
Wichita State has a quick turnaround with a trip to Omaha, Neb., for the Big O Classic, Oct. 3-4.
