Shocker Women’s Golf Adds Texas Tech Transfer Brunt

WICHITA, Kan – Wichita State women's golf head coach Tom McCurdy dipped into the transfer portal and landed Texas Tech grad transfer Louisa Brunt for the 2021-22 season.

"Louisa has had a solid career at Texas Tech and I am so excited to announce that she's going to be a Shocker," McCurdy said. "She also is our first grad transfer and, as young as our team is, Louisa is going to bring experience that will add to our youthful team. As an amateur, she brings a ton of experience representing England in international competition as well as many personal tournament accomplishments. We are so happy to welcome Louisa to Shocker Nation."

A Manchester, England, native Brunt competed in five tournaments during the 2020-21 campaign for the Red Raiders and logged a 75.43 scoring average to go with a top-10 finish.

She was a regular in the Texas Tech lineup throughout her career in Lubbock. As a freshman, Brunt tied for 16th at the Big 12 Championships. In 2019, she notched four top-15 finishes, including a tied for third place at the BYU at Entrada Classic.

2020 (JUNIOR)
Competed in one tournament in the shortened spring semester… Finished in a tie for 31st after two rounds at the SMU/DAC Challenge… Played in three of five tournament in the fall, posting a 74.00 scoring average… Made her season debut at the East-West Match Play, where she fired off a semester-low 69 in the opening round en route to a 6th place finish at 1-under overall… Concluded play at the Illini Invitational at 8-over to tie for 5th, her best finish of the fall… Shot even par at the Jim West Challenge, including another opening 69, and finished in a tie for 31st… Rounded out the year with a tie for 62nd at the Battle at the Beach in Cabo.

2019 (SOPHOMORE)
Competed in all eight tournaments during the spring, posting a 74.68 scoring average… Recorded the best finish of her career at the BYU at Entrada Classic after completing the three-round tournament in a tie for 3rd (even par 216)… Notched four top-15 finishes, including the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invite (t-13th; 10-over 226), BYU at Entrada Classic (t-3rd; even par 216), the Valspar Augusta Invitational (t-14th; 3-over 219) and the Lamkin Invitational (t-7th; 2-over 74)… Completed the Mary Fossum Invitational with a top-30 finish (t-28; 7-over 223).

2018 (FRESHMAN)
Played in all nine spring tournaments and posted a 76.3 average… Finished in the top-20 in four competitions, the Briar's Creek Invitational (t-20; 3-over 219), Dale McNamara Invitational (t-20; 15-over 225), Lady Boilermaker Classic (t-4; 3-over 219) and the Big 12 Championships (t-16; 9-over 225)… Her season average of 76.3 was 5th among her Lady Raiders teammates… Competed in all four competitions during the fall and posted a 76.2 average… Finished the Jim West Challenge with a score of 6-over 219, the best of her fall season.

HIGH SCHOOL
Attend the Bury Grammar Girls School in Manchester… In addition to golf, also member of the school's soccer, netball, rounders and hockey programs.

AMATEUR CAREER
Among the top players in the 2017 class as she ranked among the top 100 of the European amateur golf rankings… Represented her native England at the German Girls Open, European Girls Championships, Scottish Under-16 Girls Championships, the Harder Hall Women's Invitational and the European Nations Cup among others… Finished ninth at the 2015 English Women's Open and 13th at the English Girls Open Amateur Championships… Won the County Junior Championships as well as the Millenium Trophy, Saratch Trophy and the Pleasington Putter… Finished 14th at the 2017 Welsh Ladies Open… Placed in a tie for 13th at the 2017 European Nations… Had two additional top-15 finishes at both the 2017 Irish Ladies Open Stroke Play Championships (t-7th) and the 2017 St. Rule Trophy (t-15th)… Participated in the English Women's Amateur Championship prior to her enrollment at Texas Tech.

Brunt is the daughter of Paul and Gill Brunt… Her hometown is Manchester, England.
