Women’s Tennis to Host Kids’ and Senior Day at Next Two Matches

3/16/2021 4:04:00 PM

WICHITA Kan. - Wichita State women's tennis returns home after a 10-match road trip and are welcoming fans of all ages for their last two home matches of the season for a Kids' Day versus Kansas and a Senior Day versus DePaul.

"We're exciting to be closing out the home portion of our 2021 season," Head Coach Colin Foster said. "We've had a stretch between home matches that came with its share of learning opportunities. Nevertheless, the ladies continue to play with great energy and passion, and we'd love to have support for these final two home matches."

On Saturday, March 20th, the Shockers take on intra-state foe Kansas at 1:00 p.m., at the Coleman Tennis Complex and will be hosting a Kids' Day sponsored by the Mo Connolly Tennis Foundation of Kansas. Every child in attendance will receive a free personal pizza and be allowed to participate in a post-match tennis clinic with Shocker players and coaches that will begin after the match at approximately 3:00 p.m. Children can either bring their own racket or be provided one at no cost. Attending the match is not required for the clinic and it is open to any child that has yet to graduate eighth grade.

"We love being able to bring children out to the matches and help them learn the game of tennis, whether they've played a little before or are starting fresh," Coach Foster said. "The tennis community in Wichita is a close knit one and we welcome the opportunity to give back and grow the game in the region."

Our final home match of the season will be a day of celebration for our three seniors, Marta Bellucco, Ting-Ya Hsu, and Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva. Come out on Wednesday, March 24th and cheer on these seniors and the rest of the Shockers as the team faces DePaul at 3:00 p.m. at the Coleman Tennis Complex. Be sure to stay after the conclusion of the match as we recognize our senior's accomplishments over the years.

Face masks are required at the Coleman Tennis Complex and more information about our COVID-19 gameday protocols can be found here.
