WICHITA, Kan. - Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Steve Rainbolt announced the 2019-20 indoor and outdoor track and field schedules on Thursday, which includes a slate of eight events in Wichita.

The Shockers host seven meets, five of which come during the indoor season. The Shocker Prelude and the Triangular kick off 2020 for the Shockers on Jan. 17 and 18.

During the outdoor season, the Shockers host KT Woodman from April 8-11, and they also host the Shocker Open on May 8, giving athletes one final chance to tune up before the postseason begins.

The American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships return on Feb. 28-29 to the Birmingham Crossplex for the fifth consecutive year. The Shocker men were runners-up in Birmingham in 2019, and the women's squad placed third.

The outdoor conference championship meet is slated for May 15-17 in Tampa, Florida, on the campus of South Florida. The Shockers hosted last year's AAC Outdoor Championships where the women won the conference title and the Shocker men were runners-up.

On the national stage, the indoor championships are from March 13-14 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the outdoor meet is from June 10-13 in Austin, Texas, for the second consecutive year.

The NCAA West Regional is a short trip to Lawrence this year, as the Jayhawks host the meet for the first time since 2016. The qualifying round for the outdoor championships take place from May 28-30.
