PALM COAST, Fla. - As the Wichita State women's golf team wrapped up the 2018-19 season on Tuesday, seniors
Gavrilla Arya and
Laine Evans finished their careers in the Black and Yellow with top 20 finishes at the American Athletic Conference Championship.
The two finishes mark the fifth top 20 finish of the season for each senior. Evans shot an even par in her final round of collegiate golf, with her best score of the tournament putting her in a tie for 12th place. Arya came up with another 75 after shooting the same score in the second round on Monday, putting her in a tie for 15th place after compiling a 222 54-hole score.
Hana Mirnik tied her second round score on Tuesday, shooting a 75 to claim a 227 three-day score to come in 29th place. Annika Chickering and Chiara Arya each compiled a 246 54-hole score, finishing in a tie for 48th.
Wichita State finished in ninth place after compiling a team score of 303 in the third round to bring its total to 908, beating Cincinnati by one stroke. Houston won the conference championship in dominating fashion, besting UCF by 30 strokes. Memphis came in third with an 885 team score, with ECU finishing in fourth at 888 and USF finishing in fifth with 890.
The Shockers finished the season holding eight record book spots as a team in addition to coming up with the lowest Fall Season stroke average in program history. Evans and Arya finish their careers with 15 total record book spots, while Arya leaves the program as one of 13 players in program history to record two all-conference honors.
