BOULDER CITY, Nev. - After the first day of the Jackrabbit Invitational, junior Annika Chickering eyes her best career finish.

The San Diego native is tied for 15th after the first 36 holes, capping off the second round with a 78. This would be Chickering's first top 20 finish of her career, with her best finish coming from the Payne Stewart Memorial where she tied for 22nd after shooting a 226 in 2017.

After not having a birdie in the first round, Chickering bounced back to come up with three birdies in the second round. Chickering shot for par on three of Boulder Creek Golf Club's par-5 holes, shooting a birdie on the 11th green that was 508 yards.

Senior Laine Evans came up with four combined birdies in the first 36 holes, finishing in a tie for 19th place after the first day. Evans is on track to claim her third top 20 finish of the season, aiming for her 14th overall in her college career.

Michelle Ledermann improved from an 87 in the first round to a 78 in the second round, climbing into a tie for 33rd. Freshman Hana Mirnik shot a pair of 83's to be put in a tie for 38th, while Gavrilla Arya came up with a total score of 173 to be tied for 55th.

Wichita State compiled a team score of 334 in the first round, moving into ninth after the first 18 holes. The Shockers, however, improved their team score to 317 in the second round to move up to sixth after the first day.

The Shockers trail High Point by one stroke and are only 10 strokes behind Northern Illinois, who finished out its first round in fourth place. With Xavier leading the field following first round action, host institution South Dakota State chipped its way into a tie for first after shooting 303 as a team. CSU-Northridge trails by 21 strokes after shooting a 639 to move into third place.

Trailing by only one stroke for a spot in the top five, the Shockers are looking for their third top five finish of the season. If Wichita State reached that mark, it would become the sixth consecutive season where the Shockers have finished in the top five at least three times during the regular season.
