KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - After having two weeks off from competition, the Wichita State women's golf team finishes the fall portion of the season with the Palmetto Invitational starting on Sunday.
The Shockers last competed in the event in 2010, where they finished 11th after compiling a team score of 924.
Wichita State's competition includes host institution College of Charleston, Charleston Southern, Campbell, Daytona State College, Eastern Kentucky, Elon, Jacksonville State, Kansas, Marshall, North Florida, UNC Greensboro, Troy, Western Carolina, Winthrop and Xavier.
Campbell already has one tournament victory on its hands and is coming off a second place finish at the Princess Anne Invitational hosted by Old Dominion. Kansas has two top-five finishes on the season, while Xavier is coming off a team victory at the MAC Fall Preview.
Senior Laine Evans competed for Kansas during her freshman season, compiling a season stroke average of 79.3.
Wichita State is coming off a sixth place finish at the Johnie Imes Invitational, with the Shockers coming up with their fifth lowest tournament score as a team in program with 892. Senior Gavrilla Arya finished in fifth place after a career-low performance of 216. Her 54-hole score tied for sixth lowest in the program history.
Evans finished tied for 22nd after shooting a 223 in Missouri's host tournament. She co-leads the team in stroke average with Arya with 73.55.
Freshman Hana Mirnik continues to make contributions in her first year of collegiate golf, coming in a tie for 32nd at the Johnie Imes Invitational. Junior Michelle Ledermann looks to continue to help the Shocker scorecard, finishing tied for 44th in the previous collegiate tournament.
Junior Annika Chickering rounds out the Shocker lineup after competing as an individual in the Johnie Imes Invitational. Her 237 54-hole score earned her a tie for 62nd place.
Turtle Point Golf Course is 6005-yard, par-72 course and is home to the Carolina PGA as well as the 1990 PGA Cup. Tee off starts at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday (9:30 ET).
