WICHITA, Kan. - Taryn Torgerson has been named The American Golfer of the Month for October, it was announced Wednesday by the American Athletic Conference.
Torgerson, a senior from Buhler, Kan., took home individual medal honors at the Fall Preview Oct. 16-17, after carding the tournaments best score of 70 in round two, en-route to a six-stroke victory. Torgerson finished with 218 (73-70-75) on the par-72 Sand Creek Station course to help Wichita State to the team title after defeating UNI on a playoff hole.
Torgerson also finished tied 11th at the Johnie Imes Invitational hosted by Mizzou, leading the Shocker lineup with a two-over par 218.
Through the fall schedule, Torgerson has never finished outside the top-20 with four top-10 and five top-20 individual finishes and currently leads the team with a 72.4 stroke average. She is currently on course to break her own school records in the single season stroke average and 54-hole stroke average categories.
Torgerson and the Shockers are back in action in February when they travel to Rio Verde, Ariz., for the Rio Verde Invite Feb. 23-25.
