RESULTS

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Wichita State women's golf team finished in eighth place at the Johnie Imes Invitational. The team shot 292-297-291 for a total of 880, which is a new program best in a 54-hole tournament. The previous best was 896.

Senior Bryce Schroeder had the best performance of her career at the Invitational. Schroeder shot 71-73-67 over three rounds for a total of 211. In today's final round, Schroeder shot the first hole-in-one in her career as a Shocker, and the 67 is a career best. The final round also ties the program record for best single round. Gretchen Huhnerkoch shot a 67 at the UALR Classic during the 2011-2012 season.

Her 211 total score is not only the best 54-hole performance of her career, but is also the best in program history. Teammates Meghan Schuetz and Maria Alejandra Villalobos held the previous record, shooting 216 in the past. Schroeder finished tied for sixth place, scoring -5 under par. This is Schroeder's sixth top-ten finish of her career.

"The course fit my game really well," said Schroeder. "I didn't see the hole-in-one, but I saw my parents jumping up and down, which was pretty cool. They drove 15 hours from Pueblo (Colo.) to see me play, I'm so appreciative and thankful for their support. I thank God everyday that I'm able to go out and play a game that I love, and have a college career out of it. We're all tired after all this travel, but everyone is still working hard."

Sophomore Taryn Torgerson shot 72-71-75 for a total of 218, finishing tied for 25th place. Her 54-hole score of 218 is a new career best, and her second round score of 71 is also a career best round. Torgerson finished +2 over par.

Junior Maria Alejandra Villalobos finished tied for 49th after shooting 72-80-72 for a total of 224 and finishing +8 over par.

Senior Meghan Schuetz shot 80-74-77-231 to finish in 73rd place and +15 over par.

Junior Samantha Stewart tied for 76th place after shooting 77-78-79-234 and shot +18 over par.

Senior Dani Rugeles Duran competed as an individual. Duran finished tied for 74th after shooting 83-76-73-232 and was +17 over par.

"This was a really good week for us," said head coach Tom McCurdy. "Bryce was amazing, Taryn (Torgerson) played fantastic, and everyone really gutted it out in the end. I'm really proud of how we closed out the last round.  We're looking forward to going to Denver."

The Shockers next competition will be on Oct. 9-11 when they travel to Highlands Ranch, Colorado to play in the Ron Moore Intercollegiate at Highlands Ranch Golf Club.
