CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Wichita State men's track and field team claimed a second place team finish with 117 total points, while the women's team collected 103.5 points and a third place finish at the 2015 Missouri Valley Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Indiana State took home both MVC indoor team titles with 141 total points on the men's side and 122 on the women's. The SIU women came in second with 119 points.
Nikki Larch-Miller was the top Shocker performer on Championship Sunday, as she left the UNI Dome with two MVC indoor titles in the 60 meter dash and 60 meter hurdles.
Larch-Miller recorded a new meet, school and personal record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.32. The previous meet record of 8.40 was set in 2011 by Meredith Hayes of SIU. Shanice Andrews placed fifth (8.55) and Taylor Larch-Miller eighth in 8.83 seconds in the 60m hurdles.
Larch-Miller registered her second MVC indoor title of the day in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.41. Her time of 7.41 again set a new school and personal best, as well as a new UNI Dome record.
Hunter Veith captured the heptathlon title after finishing with 5,260 total points. Veith placed first in the high jump with a mark of 2.01 meters, while placing second in the long jump (7.16 m) and 1,000 m run (2:40.48). Kyle Troxler placed fourth with 5098 total points.
Ugis Jocis barely missed out on a first place finish in the mile run after crossing the finish line in 4:13.78. Robbie Martinez-Garcia placed fifth in a time of 4:16.43.
In the high jump, Austin Chippeaux finished third after clearing 2.02 meters (6-7.50). Rhys Powell just missed standing on the podium as he finished fourth in the 400 meter dash. He finished with a time of 49.58.
The Wichita State men's 4x400m relay team of Tucker Davis, Cody Scheck, Rhys Powell and Jonathan Duvall finished the day with a third place finish in a time of 3:17.17.
Breanne Borman found her way onto the medal stand after placing third in the high jump. Borman cleared 1.69 meters (5-6.50), which was just shy of her personal best of 1.70m. Jenny Pinkston and Ashley Petersen recorded points in the high jump by placing fifth and eighth, respectively.
