RIO VERDE, Ariz.- The Shocker women's golf team will hit the
road this weekend, March 9-11, to participate in the 10th Annual Rio Verde
Invitational, hosted by Western Michigan University. It will be the first
tournament of the spring season.
The tournament consists of 54 holes, 18 holes played each
day. On Friday, play starts at 1 p.m., while Saturday and Sunday will be 8 a.m.
starts. Each round will be a shotgun start.
Junior Gretchen Huhnerkoch leads the Shockers after having a
successful fall season. In the fall, she had a round average of 75.73 and shot
in the 70's in fourteen out of the fifteen rounds she played. Her season low
was 72, which she shot three times.
Along with Huhnerkoch, fellow juniors Hannah Martin, Natalie
Samb, Hollie Weatherburn, and Senior Erin Coons look to lead the Shockers into
the spring season.
