WICHITA, Kan.- Wichita State extended their winning streak to six games Thursday night against the Drake Bulldogs with a final score of 63-41. Jessica Diamond led three Shockers in double-figures with 13 points. Jazimen Gordon pitched in 12 points while reigning Missouri Valley Conference Player-of-the-Week Chynna Turner continued her strong start to the conference season with 11 points.

In the first half the Shockers, (9-5, 3-0) raced out to an early 8-2 lead with all eight points coming from inside the paint.  From there the Shockers extended their lead to 24-4 by forcing nine Drake turnovers and getting seven points from junior point guard Jessica Diamond. Drake (7-6, 1-1) responded with a 10-0 run to close the Shocker lead to ten with three minutes left in the half. Drake continued to close the gap to seven, 26-19, at the halftime break.

The Shockers started the second half in much the same fashion as the first stretching their lead to 49-32 lead with eight minutes left in the half due in large part to Gordon's eight points. The Shockers dominated the rest of the way cruising to the final margin of victory.  Rachel Hackbarth paced Drake with 19 points in the loss.

The Shockers will look to open Missouri Valley Conference play 4-0 for the first time in program history Sunday, Jan. 8 when Creighton visits Charles Koch Arena for a 2:05 p.m. tipoff.
