OMAHA, Neb. - Wichita State's men's tennis team opened the Missouri Valley season with a win on Friday against conference-rival Creighton, 6-1.
Snapping an eight-dual winning streak for the Jays, the Shocks (9-7) kicked off the morning by sweeping the doubles point. Freshman Matheus Pereira and sophomore David Cavalcanti shut out Ryan Norman and James McAvoy in the No. 3 match. In the meantime, juniors Adrian Chermaci and Vlad Marinescu took down Kyle Obermeier and Connor Macey, 8-3.

At the top spot, Kasper knocked off Paluch, 6-4, 6-3. Marinescu's quest to hand Christian his second loss of the season didn't pan out, as he defeated the Shocker junior, 6-2, 6-2.
Mihai fought a tough first set and flew through the second on his way to a 7-5, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 position against Gabe Nagy. Pereira did the same in the No. 6 slot, beating Bryan Lube, 7-5, 6-3.
