AVONDALE, La. - Wichita State's men's golf team used three top-25 performances to finish the UNO Mardi Gras Invitational in sixth place on Tuesday afternoon.

Despite his finishing out of the top 10 for just the second time this season, senior All-American Dustin Garza led the Shockers in the final day. Garza fired a one-under round on Tuesday to bounce back from his highest round of the season on Monday. His recovery put him much closer to the front of the pack as his 218 (70-77-71) tied him for 11th place.

Fellow senior Connor McHenry began the day in a tie for eighth after consecutive even rounds on Monday. His 78 (+6) on Tuesday, still landed the Shocker senior in a tie for 19th.

Freshman Hunter Sparks added a couple of strokes to his second-round score on Tuesday, posting a 225 (75-74-76) to end his second spring tournament tied at 25th. Sophomore Anders Engell carded a 230 while freshman Tyler Gann followed an impressive one-under round on Monday with an 81 in the final round. He brought up the back end of the Shocker lineup, tying for 51st.

The Shockers (890) finished five strokes behind fifth-place Arkansas-Little Rock (885). Armed with individual medalist, Alex Ching, who tied a course record by shooting a 64 (-8) in the first round, the University of San Diego (870) took the team title.

Wichita State heads home from Louisiana for a two-week break and will be in action again at the Rio Pinar Invitational hosted by Central Florida on March 15-16.
