As a Junior…Named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year…Earned All-American honors when the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) named Garza to the 2008-09 third team…Competed in every tournament on the Shockers’ schedule…Posted a 71.57 stroke average over the entire season…Knocked more than a stroke off his average in the spring with a 70.44 in eight tournaments and 23 rounds…Placed outside of the top 25 just twice throughout his junior year campaign…Became the reigning Missouri Valley Conference tournament co-champion after tallying a 216 (73-71-72) in the 54-hole tournament…Took 2nd at the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic, finishing one stroke behind fellow Shocker and tournament champion Ty Sanders with a 143 (72-71)…Posted his low-round score of the spring (69) at the Aggie Invitational, where he took third…In the fall, Garza posted the most impressive numbers of his career when he finished with sub-par scores in 14 of his 15 fall rounds...Led the team with a stroke average of 68.5 over 15 rounds...Won each of the last three tournaments on the Shockers’ fall schedule...posted the lowest round of his career, a 61, at the Sycuan Collegiate Invitational, where he also posted his career-low 54-hole score of 200...Posted three-straight rounds in the 60’s at the VCU Shootout en route to a tournament score of 201 (66-66-69)...was the only golfer in the Missouri Valley Conference to finish the fall season with a sub-par score vs. par.

As a Sophomore...Fourth on the team with a 73.667 stroke average...Posted his low round of 70 at the Falcon Invitational (Sept.8-9)...Recorded low 54-hole total and low finish of the season at the Bill Hill Crown Classic (Oct. 8-9) whre he posted a 216 (71-71-74) and finished tied for sixth...Shot 10 rounds in the 70s and one round in the 80s.

As a Freshman...Named MVC Newcomer of the year...Finished third on the team with a 73.200 stroke average...Shot his low round of 67 at the Barona Collegiate Cup (Oct. 23-24)...His low 54-hole score of 209 came at the Xavier Invitational (Oct. 2-3) and at the Barona Collegiate Cup (Oct. 23-24)...Recorded his low finish at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational (Mar. 26-27) where he finished tied for third with a score of 217 (70-71-76)...Was sixth in the Valley with a 72.517 stroke average going into NCAA Regional play...Tied for first on the team at NCAA Central Region Championships (May 17-19) where he posted a score of 232.

Personal...Son of Roy and Nancy Garza, has one brother, Jason, and three sisters Ashli, Meagan and Candace. Went to Sharyland High in Mission, Tex. Was born Jan. 8th, 1988.
