Women's Tennis to Conclude Fall Season at WMU Super Challenge

WICHITA, Kan. -- The 31st-ranked Wichita State women's tennis team will conclude its season this weekend at the Western Michigan Super Challenge on the Sorensen Courts in Kalamazoo, Mich. Ranked 118th in the nation, sophomore Florentina Hanisch will join three other nationally-ranked players in the quest for the singles championship. Other nationally-ranked teams participating at the event include No. 24 Indiana and No. 73 Yale.

"This tournament will be a great way for us to conclude the fall season," Director of Tennis Chris Young said. "All five teams are strong, so every match will be tough and that is great for our girls and their development."

In the team's last outing, the ITA Central Regional, Stephanie Dalmacio defeated two nationally-ranked players and earned a berth in the main draw singles semifinals. Florentina Hanisch advanced to the singles consolation semifinals, and teamed with Lenore Lazaroiu to advance to the doubles semifinal.

The Western Michigan Super Challenge begins Friday with doubles play. The first serve is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Singles will begin play at 1 p.m. at the Sorensen Courts on the campus of Western Michigan University.
