2/10/2026 11:42:00 AM

WICHITA, Kan. -- Following a pair of top-three finishes in their first two tournaments of the spring, Wichita State women's bowling moved up to #4 in the February edition of National Tenpin Coaches Association 2025-2026 Coaches Poll announced Tuesday.

The Shockers were ranked #5 in the preseason and slipped back to #6 in December before jumping into the top four.

Wichita State earned 1,608 points, climbing past fellow Conference USA foes Louisiana Tech (1,484 points - 5th) and Nebraska (1,474 - 6th). CUSA continued its dominance at the top of the poll, securing the top six spots. Jacksonville State was again the commanding #1, snagging 41 of 44 first place votes and 1,884 points. Vanderbilt held steady at #2, receiving the other three first-place votes, and Arkansas State stayed at #3 for the second consecutive poll. Maryville is the highest ranked team outside of CUSA, checking it at #7 after vaulting three spots. Mount St. Mary's suffered the biggest drop, landing at #16 after previously holding down the #9 spot.

The Shockers have put together two strong showings to kick off the spring semester, placing third out of 36 teams at the loaded Northeast Classic and following up with a runner-up finish at the Saints Invite last time out. In between, the scheduled Prairie View Invitational was canceled due to inclement winter weather. WSU owns an impressive 59-19 overall record, boasting 13 top-10 wins and 19 victories against the top 25. The Shockers are also an unblemished 27-0 against unranked opposition.

Wichita State hits the road for Lincoln, Nebraska to continue their spring schedule next weekend. The tournament begins Friday, February 20 and concludes Sunday, February 22.
