WICHITA, Kan. -- Following an incredible run to the NCAA National Championship match, the Wichita State women's bowling program earned their highest NCAA ranking by securing the #3 spot in the final NTCA Coaches Poll announced Tuesday.

The Shockers moved up two spots from the March rankings, finishing with 1,296 points. National champion Jacksonville State topped the poll with 1,440 points and all 34 first place votes, while Vanderbilt, who Wichita State defeated to reach the final, was voted #2 with 1,310 points. There was little movement in the rest of the top 10, which featured fellow Conference USA foes Arkansas State (#4), Nebraska (#5), Louisiana Tech (#6), Youngstown State (#8), and Sam Houston State (#9).

Wichita State ended the season with a 79-36 record, winning regular season tournament titles at the Track Kat Klash and Big Red Invite before a thrilling postseason run. At the Arlington Regional, the Shockers dropped their opening round match to Newman and battled back through the elimination bracket by winning four consecutive matches, including two against top seed Louisiana Tech to earn a spot in the Final Four.

Again, the Shockers were quickly pushed to the brink with an opening round loss to Jacksonville State but responded with wins over Arkansas State and Vanderbilt that set up a rematch with the #1-ranked Gamecocks in the best-of-seven final. Jacksonville State emerged victorious, 4-1, to claim their second NCAA title in three years.

Four Shockers were named NTCA All-Americans: Aleesha Oden as a First Team selection, while Sara Duque Jiménez and Ashtyn Woods both earned a spot on the Second Team and Paige Wagner secured Honorable Mention honors.
