EUGENE, Ore./SALINA, Kan. – Wichita State track and field recorded four performances ranking in the top three of the American Athletic Conference at the Oregon Open and Oregon Team Invitational at Hayward Field while a group of 17 Shocker women came together to win the team title at the Coyote Classic at Kansas Wesleyan.
OREGON OPEN/OREGON TEAM INVITATIONAL
Two days after breaking the AAC 800-meter record at the Bryan Clay Invitational, redshirt-junior
Yared Kidane ran the second-fastest 1500-meter time in the conference, clocking 3:43.50 to finish seventh at the Oregon Team Invitational.
Arantxa Cortez also put up the second-best mark in the conference in her event, clearing an outdoor personal-best 3.98m/13'0.75" in the pole vault to place sixth and rank seventh all-time in Wichita State history.
Kylie Scott and
Shellamae Farmer also cleared personal bests, making 3.88m/12'8.75" to take eighth and ninth, respectively. They tie for fourth in the AAC standings and rank ninth in Shocker history. In the men's pole vault,
Caden Carlson and
Carson Ratzlaff both cleared 4.66m/15'3.5" to tie for fourth in the AAC standings and place eighth and 10
th, respectively.
In the hammer throw,
Loudan Hicks launched his fifth throw out to 60.93m/199'11" to place fourth and move up to No. 3 in the AAC. His mark ranks seventh all-time in school history.
Farrah Miller also recorded a top-three AAC time, running a season-best 2:08.27 in the 800 meters to finish eight.
Audrey Parson ran a personal-best 2:12.12 to finish 13
th and move up to No. 10 all-time in school history.
In the javelin,
Jenna Kuepker moved up to No. 4 in the conference, tying her personal best with a throw of 48.18m/158'1" to place fourth and rank sixth all-time in Wichita State history.
Jason Parrish also put up a No. 4 AAC performance, running a personal-best 50.84 in the 400-meter hurdles to finish third and rank fifth in school history.
Freshman
Aurora Wessel ran another personal-best in the 100-meter hurdles, recording a time of 13.64 to finish third and move up to seventh in the Shocker history, and
Jaleel Montgomery ran a personal-best 14.05 in the 110-meter hurdles to move up to No. 9 in program history.
Josh Parrish recorded his fourth and fifth sub-14 second hurdles times of the season, clocking 13.89 to finish second in the Oregon Open race and 13.96 to finish second in the Oregon Team Invitational race.
Sadie Millard had a good showing, making her outdoor open 400 meters debut and running 54.38 to finish fifth and rank fifth in school history. She also ran a personal-best 1:00.22 in her second-ever 400-meter hurdles race to finish fifth and jumped a personal-best 5.75m/18'10.5" in the long jump to take fourth in the Oregon Open section.
In the steeplechase, senior
Jenna Muma ran a personal-best 10:47.29 to improve her time at No. 10 in Shocker history.
Destiny Masters cleared 1.75m/5'8.75" to take second in the Oregon Team Invitational high jump,
Ridge Estes took second in the Oregon Team Invitational discus with a big throw of 55.25m/181'3",
Athan Huelskamp claimed third in the Oregon Team Invitational shot put with a throw of 16.49m/54'1.25", and
Josh Parrish placed third in the Oregon Team Invitational long jump with a leap of 7.31m/23'11.75".
Joakim Genereux finished third in the 400 meters with a personal-best time of 47.67, and Montgomery took third in the 100 meters with a time of 10.61.
COYOTE CLASSIC
A small group of 17 Shocker women had a strong showing at the Coyote Classic, winning the team title along with six individual events.
Isa Evans cleared a personal-best 3.65m/11'11.75" to win the pole vault,
Anna Bundy cleared 1.56m/5'1.25" to win the high jump, and
Hannah Glennen (400m; 59.49),
Lea Jerkovic (1500m; 4:40.76),
Cali Kerschen (100H; 14.69), and
Emily See (3K steeplechase; 11:46.31) all claimed victory on the track in their events.
