FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Wichita State track and field team qualified 13 athletes to the preliminary round of the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where the top 48 athletes in the west in each event will compete for a trip to Eugene, Oregon.

The top 12 athletes in each event and top 12 relay teams will move on to compete against the top 12 from the East Preliminaries June 8-11 at Hayward Field. Horizontal jumpers and throwers will have just three attempts to land a top-12 mark as there are no finals at this meet.

Michael Bryan is looking to qualify to his second-straight NCAA Outdoor Championships and his second NCAA championship meet this year after earning a spot in the NCAA Indoor Championships in March in Birmingham, Alabama.

This will be the first trip to the NCAA West Prelims for seven of the 13 Shockers, two being true freshmen (
Sydney Johnson and
Brianna Utecht.)
