Bye has transformed from a middle reliever at the beginning of the season to one of the conference's top starting pitchers, going 5-1 with a 3.03 ERA over 65.1 innings during the regular season. He opened his sophomore season with 24.2 innings without allowing an earned run, spanning five relief appearances and four starts. He held down some of the league's best offenses in AAC play, blanking East Carolina over eight dominant innings with eight strikeouts and allowing just one earned run over 7.1 frames vs. Houston. Bye's only loss of the season came in a quality start, when he surrendered four hits and two runs against Cincinnati.
The sophomore right-hander has allowed just 52 hits on the season for an opponent batting average of .218. Bye did not allow more than four hits in a game until his 12th appearance of the season on April 23.Â
Bye finished the regular season with four quality starts and seven scoreless outings over his 16 total appearances. The native of Euless, Texas racked up 60 strikeouts to 33 walks, twice fanning a career-best eight hitters.Â
Ingram developed into one of the league's premier sluggers as a sophomore, all while taking over as the Shockers everyday centerfielder. The physical right-handed hitter piled up 18 multi-hit games, including a five-hit game against New Mexico and a four-hit outing this past weekend against South Florida. For the season, Ingram slashed .309/.364/.583, finishing second in the league in total bases (130), third in RBI (51), and third in home runs (14). Ingram also dramatically improved his walk rate from a season ago; after drawing just four walks in 2021, Ingram earned 17 bases on balls this season to raise his on-base percentage 90 points.
He put together a career-best 12-game hitting streak and 17-game on-base streak in 2022, leading the Shockers with 13 multi-RBI games. On April 30 at Memphis, he went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a home run, driving in personal-best six runs.
Ingram has been one of the best hitters in the country against left-handed pitching, hitting a robust .450 with five doubles and six home runs, good for a 1.362 OPS. The Kansas City native has also excelled in clutch situations, leading the club with a .383 average when runners are in scoring position.
Rodden leads the Shockers in batting average (.335), on-base percentage (.434) and slugging percentage (.641) in his first season in the Black and Yellow, establishing himself among the nation's top second basemen. The switch-hitter leads the American Athletic Conference with 134 total bases, while also ranking in the top five in hits, runs scored and home runs. His 20 multi-hit games are tops on the Shockers squad, including nine three-hit games.
The native of Oktaha, Okla., has demonstrated remarkable plate discipline, drawing 36 walks while striking out 36 times. Rodden struck out just twice over the final 16 games of the regular season, earning 15 walks in that time frame.
Rodden twice drove in four runs in a game this season (South Dakota State, March 13 and Houston, May 8), and scored a season-high four runs in the Shockers 18-0 win over Oklahoma on May 16. He put together a 19-game on-base streak earlier this season, and has proven equally adept at handling both left-handed and right-handed pitching (.379 vs. LHP, .315 vs. RHP). Defensively, the Seminole State transfer is currently riding a stretch of 14 consecutive errorless games at second base.
The Shockers open the American Athletic Conference tournament on Tuesday night against Houston. First pitch will take place 47 minutes after the conclusion of game three, which begins at 4:00 pm ET.
