LAST TIME OUT
Wichita State blitzed Oral Roberts Wednesday night, 89-67, in Tulsa. The Shockers dominated inside, scoring 66 of their 89 points in the paint and outrebounded the Golden Eagles, 49-27. Wichita State also scored 29 points off 19 Oral Roberts turnovers. DJ McCarty poured in 17 of her career-high 23 points before halftime on an efficient 11-of-17 shooting. Trajata Colbert finished with a season-high 19 points, marking her third straight game in double figures to start the season. Curtessia Dean added 16 points and seven rebounds and Jane Asinde recorded her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Asinde missed the first two games due to injury.

SCOUTING THE MEAN GREEN
North Texas is 1-1 after its first two games of the season. The Mean Green defeated Texas A&M-Texarkana in the opener, 71-58, before falling to Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday, 80-49. North Texas has had trouble with turnovers, as they are averaging 21.5 through the first two games compared to just 9.0 assists. Jaaucklyn Moore averages a team-best 15.0 points, but has only two assists to 12 turnovers. Tommisha Lampkin is posting a near double-double at 12.0 points and 8.5 rebounds, while shooting 64.7 percent from the field. Quincy Noble rounds out the double figure scorers at 10.0 per game.

THE SERIES VS. NORTH TEXAS
Wichita State and North Texas have met only one time prior to Saturday's matchup in Charles Koch Arena. That lone meeting came just a year ago on Dec. 17, 2021 at North Texas. Wichita State and North Texas will soon be conference foes when the Mean Green join the American Athletic Conference in the summer of 2023.

LAST MEETING
Wichita State overcame a five-point deficit with less than 2:00 minutes left to steal a 67-64 win at North Texas just last year. Wichita State closed the game on a 10-2 run and overcame a poor shooting effort from three-point range and 19 turnovers. North Texas attempted 16 more field goals, but shot only 34.2 percent, including 4-of-26 from beyond the arc. Asia Strong led four Shockers in double figures with her monster 17-point, 15-rebound double-double. Trajata Colbert added 14 points, while Mariah McCully and DJ McCarty both chipped in 12 points apiece.

TRENDING TRAJATA
Wichita State senior Trajata Colbert has been the most consistent Shocker through the first three games of the season. Colbert has scored 10 or more points in all three games and is leading the team in scoring at 16.3 points per game, which would easily be a career high. The Rochelle, Ga., native has never reached double figures in four straight games, which she could do Saturday vs. North Texas. She has scored 10+ in three consecutive on four different occasions.

JANE MAKES SEASON DEBUT
Senior Jane Asinde made her 2022-23 season debut on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at Oral Roberts. All she did was record her 10th career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. She is Wichita State's active double-double leader followed by Trajata Colbert with seven.

CAREER AFTERNOONS AT OMAHA
Despite the loss at Omaha on Nov. 12, Wichita State had two individuals record new career highs. Shamaryah Duncan scored 13 of her career-high 17 points after halftime behind a perfect night from three-point range. Duncan was 3-for-3 and was the only Shocker to connect a triple in the contest. DJ McCarty pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds and also dished out a career-high tying six assists.

CAREER CHARTS
Wichita State senior Trajata Colbert enters the season on the career charts at Wichita State for field goal percentage. Her career field goal percentage of 51.4 ranks 10th and sits behind Theresa Dreiling's 51.8 percent in ninth. Colbert also needs 19 blocked shots this season to crack the top 10 list at Wichita State. She enters with 72 career blocks and 10th place is currently 91.

COLBERT CASHING IN
Senior Trajata Colbert has improved dramatically the last two years at the free throw line. The Georgia native began her career shooting 42.1 percent as a freshman, 61.1 percent as a sophomore and 50.9 percent as a COVID sophomore. In 2021-22 she shot a career-high 76.0 percent and so far through three games in 2022-23, she is 13-for-15 (86.7 percent).

OVERTIME AT OMAHA
Wichita State went to overtime at Omaha on Nov. 12, marking the seventh time under head coach Keitha Adams the Shockers have played an OT contest. Wichita State is 3-4 in those games. Wichita State is 20-24 all-time in overtime games.

ADDED EXPERIENCE TO THE BENCH
Head coach Keitha Adams bolstered her coaching staff in the offseason with the hire of Jim Littell as an assistant coach. Littell spent the last 11 seasons as the head coach at Oklahoma State, and the six years prior to that as an associate head coach for the Cowgirls. He compiled a 204-140 record in his 11 seasons as head coach of the Cowgirls. Littell was a two-time Big 12 Coach of the Year (2016, 2021), while leading Oklahoma State to six NCAA Tournament appearances, a WNIT title and seven Cowgirls achieved All-America status under his guidance. Adams and Littell are no strangers, however. It was at Oxford High School where Adams and Littell first met. Adams was on the basketball team at Oxford where she played for Littell, and the two have maintained a close friendship throughout the years. Littell was the head coach at Oxford High School from 1978-83, before building a powerhouse at Seward County Community College from 1991-2004.

INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR
For the sixth season in a row, the Shocker basketball team will feature several players from international countries. The 2022-23 Shockers feature eight student-athletes from international countries, which is the most in school history. Jane Asinde (Kampala, Uganda), Carla Budane (Maputo, Mozambique), Nhug Bosch Duran (Barcelona, Spain) and Tatiana Platonova (Moscow, Russia) return after a season in the program. They are joined by newcomers: Daniela Abies (Málaga, Spain), Ambah Kowcun (Adelaide, Australia), Ornella Niankan (Montreal, Canada) and Raissa Nsabua (Ottawa, Canada). In the 12 seasons prior to Keitha Adams taking over the program, Wichita State had one international player (Marija Pacar). Under Adams, 20 international players have played for the Shockers in just six seasons, representing 13 different countries. Associate Head Coach Ewa Laskowska leads the charge in international recruiting thanks to Stalowa Wola, Poland, being her hometown.
