OMAHA, Neb. -Â Wichita State erased a three stroke deficit entering the final round of the Big O Classic to claim its first team title since 2017.
The Shockers posted a team score of 50-over par, 926, finishing two strokes ahead of second place Creighton at 52-over par. This marks the ninth team tournament win under head coach
Tom McCurdy.
Senior
Kenni Henson made her season debut after missing the first two tournament due to injury, and led the charge with a third place finish at 7-over par, 226. It marks the highest individual finish for Henson in her collegiate career. Henson turned in rounds of 75, 76 and 75 on the par-73 course.
Mar Vidal also claimed a career-best finish in a tie for sixth at 11-over par, 230. She now has two top 10 finishes for her career.
Megan Lucas was the third Shocker to slide in the top 10, tying for ninth at 14-over par, 233.
Rounding out the Wichita State lineup were
Mackenzie Wilson and
Brooklyn Benn. Wilson tied for 24th at 19-over par, while Benn came in 41st at 29-over par.
Wichita State has a week off before heading to Arkansas for the Little Rock Classic, Oct. 17-18 at Diamante Golf Club.
