Moore Ties Mile Program Record on Day Two of Adidas Classic

1/29/2022 7:24:00 PM

LINCOLN, Neb. – Adam Moore ran a 4:01.51 to win the mile at the Adidas Classic and equal the current Wichita State indoor mile record set in 1973 by Alan Walker, who ran a hand-timed 4:01.5.

Joining Moore in the record books, Yazmine Wright etched her name on her fourth indoor all-time list, coming in at No. 7 with a personal-best time of 4:48.48 to place second in Lincoln. Paula Garcia also made her presence known on the 400-meter top-10 list with a blazing 55.33 to tie with Tianna Holmes (2019) for the fourth spot. Garcia also moved up to fifth in the conference in the event. In the high jump, Davis Dubbert and Brady Palen place third and fourth to slide into the ninth spot on the all-time list, tying with four previous Shockers.

The distance squad continued their weekend of success with two top-three finishes by Josh Cable in the 800 meters and Danielle Rinn in the 3,000 meters. Cable ranks third in the conference after this weekend, and Rinn improved on her previous personal best by almost 30 seconds to take second and move up to fourth in the conference.

The Shockers are back at home next Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 5 for the Herm Wilson Invitational in the Heskett Center.
