LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Wichita State University volleyball team has been named a recipient of the United States Marine Corps (USMC)/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the ninth consecutive season. The Shockers are one of 241 Division I women's programs to earn the honor in 2020-21.

WSU was also named to the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, which means it had one of the top-50 team GPA's in the country.
 
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative GPA on a 5.0 scale.
 
WSU had a team GPA of 3.71 in 2020-21.
