WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State fell to No. 17 Kansas 3-0 on Tuesday night at Charles Koch Arena to end a four-match win streak. The Shockers lost by scores of 28-26, 25-14 and 25-16.
The Jayhawks held Wichita State (6-3) to a season-low .016 hitting percentage with 29 kills and 27 errors. Kansas (7-4) hit .220, with 43 kills and 16 errors.
Sydney Dunning led the Shockers with eight kills and 14 digs. Setter
Jordan Heatherly recorded 12 assists and hit .429, both Shocker bests, to go along with 13 digs.
The Jayhawks extended their winning streak against Wichita State to eight matches. Jovana Zelenovic led Kansas with 11 kills.
The Shockers had set point twice in the first set before Kansas rallied to take the opener 28-26.
Dunning picked up right where she left off after an excellent start to the season. She was leading WSU with a .295 hitting percentage going into the match and continued this success hitting .364 midway through the first set. During the sixth point,
Gabi Maas dove to save a ball that would end up winning WSU a point, which contributed to her 10 digs in the first set.

Elinor Engel recorded a clutch block. The Shockers went on a 3-0 run to tie the set up at 21-21 before losing the set to KU.
Wichita State began the second set down 15-7. Kansas scored seven straight points to put the Shockers in an eight-point deficit. The Jayhawks went on a 5-0 run to make the score 20-10. WSU couldn't climb out of this hole, losing the set 25-14.
WSU was defeated 25-16 in the third set. The Shockers started the set down 4-0 but clawed back to make it 5-4 after a 5-0 run. After the Shockers held Kansas to a .091 attack percentage in the first set, the Jayhawks hit .324 in the third set.
The Shockers are next in action Sept. 18-20 at the South Dakota Classic in Vermillion, S.D. WSU faces Drake on Sept. 18, host South Dakota on Sept. 19 and Villanova on Sept. 20.
