Wichita State held its eighth-annual Gold Carpet Awards on Monday night, recognizing student-athletes from all 15 varsity sports teams for their outstanding achievements on the playing field and in the classroom over the past 12 months.
 
Here is a list of the 2020-21 award winners:
 
Scholar Award: This award goes out to a Junior or Senior who receives the highest academic honors and achieves exceptional academic success.

Academic Team of the Year: This award goes out to the team with the highest average GPA.

Team Leadership Award: A a senior athlete from each team who displayed extraordinary leadership on and off the court/field.

Shocker Impact Award: This award goes out to student-athletes who are exhausting their eligibility and have made outstanding contributions to Wichita State through athletics and community service.

Shocker Promise Award: This award is presented to student-athletes that have shown outstanding commitment to growth and leadership development beyond their sport within the Shocker LIFE program.

Shocker Assist Award: This award is presented to the best athletes in a supporting role. These student-athletes demonstrate extraordinary sportsmanship, support, and loyalty to their teammates.

Heart of a Shocker Award: This award goes out to someone who has overcome challenges and exceeded expectations to serve as an inspiration to others.

Comeback Athlete of the Year: This award goes out to an athlete who has made the most significant, profound or impressive comeback from serious illness, injury, or personal hardship.

Workhorse Award: This award goes out to two individuals that display exceptional commitment to Strength and Conditioning.

Ms. and Mr. Shocker Award: This award goes out to a senior man and a senior woman who display all-around excellence in Athletics, Academics, Character, Service, and Personal Development.

Shocker Spirit Award: This award goes out to someone who shows relentless support for all Shocker athletic teams and student-athletes including attending other team's competitions and supporting others through social media engagement.

Brent Kemnitz Positive Energy Award: This award goes out to someone whose positive energy and enthusiasm is a difference maker on their team.

Female Career Athlete Award: This award goes to the athlete who has had an extraordinary career for Wichita State Athletics. The department would like to recognize this athlete for her outstanding performances during her career as a Shocker.

Male Career Athlete Award: This award goes to the athlete who has had an extraordinary career for Wichita State Athletics.  The department would like to recognize this athlete for his outstanding performances during his career as a Shocker.

Shocker Athlete Medallion Award: Shockers who will be graduating this Spring or Summer with a GPA of a 3.8 or higher.
