AWENDAW, S.C. – Zac Owens and
Dawson Lewis both shot even-par on Tuesday to lead the Wichita State men's golf team in the final round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay.
The Shockers (296-294-294—884, +20) finished 15
th in a stacked field -- 14 of the 16 schools came into the tournament slotted among the top-100 in GolfStat's NCAA Division I rankings – but outperformed five others on the last of threes days of competition at Bulls Bay Golf Club.
Lewis (73-72-72—217, +1) was WSU's top individual performer, finishing 28
th out of 96 entries.
Owens (74-73-72—219, +3) climbed nine spots to 38
th on the final leaderboard.
Marcus Wochner (74-75-74—223, +7) carded five birdies Tuesday on his way to a share of 64
th.
Brock Polhill (75-74-78—227, +11) tied for 78
th and
Frank Thomas (78-80-76—234, +18) tied for 91
st.

th-ranked NC State (-18) bested No. 16 Missouri (-16) and No. 7 Auburn (-15) to win the team title.
NC State's Benjamin Shipp (No. 58 in GolfStat's national rankings) was individual medalist at 11-under, edging out No. 73 Andrew Kozan of Auburn by a single stroke.
Now half way through its spring schedule, Wichita State heads to Columbia, Mo. next Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Tiger Invitational.
