Easterling Signs Smith, Hunter to 2026 Class

11/14/2025 12:30:00 PM

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State men's golf head coach Judd Easterling announced the signings of Roan Smith and Stiles Hunter on Friday afternoon.

"Our staff and I are excited to welcome Roan and Stiles to the Shocker men's golf family," Easterling said. "Both of them are hard workers, great students, and we anticipate both of them coming in and competing for lineup spots next season."

Smith, a native of the United Kingdom, brings an impressive résumé of results. He holds an 18-hole scoring average of 71 and has recorded nine top-10 finishes in 2025 tournaments alone, including four individual championships.

He is the youngest player on record to win the men's club championship and earned a spot on the U18 Durham County Boys Team at just 14 years old.

Hunter, a native of Rogers, Arkansas, comes to Wichita State with a decorated junior career. He has posted four top-10 finishes on the American Junior Golf Association tour, including a win at the Kansas Junior Cup Invitational. He also recorded seven top-five finishes across the Arkansas State Golf Association and Oklahoma Junior Golf tours, highlighted by a victory at the Northwest Arkansas Junior Championship.

He won the 2025 Arkansas 6A State Golf Individual Title — the first individual boys golf champion in Rogers High School history — and also led the Mountaineers to the team title.

The son of a golf-filled family, Hunter's mother, Kristy, played golf at the University of Arkansas, and his brother, Stevens, played at the University of Arkansas–Fort Smith.
