COLUMBIA, Mo. — Freshman
Rhett O'Rear recorded his highest finish of the season as Wichita State finished 11th at the Tiger Invitational on Tuesday at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
The Shockers posted rounds of 288, 287 and 293 for an 868 (28-over) team total. Host Missouri won the team title with an 833 (7-under). Missouri's Veikka Viskari claimed the individual title with a 204 (6-under).
In the opening round,
Jose Carletta used a strong start to post the best score by a Shocker over the first 18 holes. He was 3-under through his first four holes before finishing even par for the round.
In the second round,
Emilio Arellano Lamas carded his best round since March 3 at the Golden Nugget Invitational, firing a 1-under 69 to lead Wichita State.
In the final round,
Jose Miguel Ramirez rallied late with three birdies over his final eight holes to finish 2-under for the round. It marked the best individual score by a Wichita State player in the tournament.
O'Rear and Ramirez led the Shockers on the individual leaderboard, tying for 24th. For O'Rear, it was both the highest finish and lowest 54-hole score of his career.
