Women’s Golf Releases Spring Schedule; Plays in First Tournament Next Week

2/4/2021 2:15:00 PM

WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State women's golf released its spring schedule on Thursday, which includes four tournaments and The American Championships.

The Shockers return five players from last year's squad, including senior Michelle Ledermann. Ledermann can stake her claim as one of the top golfers in program history, as she already sits at second place in career stroke average and career 54-hole stroke average. The Shockers are also welcoming three newcomers, including two Kansas City transfers, Kenni Henson and Megan Lucas, and a top local freshman, Madison Slayton.

The season starts next week when they travel to Kyle, Texas to take part in the Texas State Invitational from Feb. 8-9 at Plum Creek Golf Course.

After a month-long break, the team will travel to Springfield, Mo. to take part in the Missouri State Invitational at a yet to be determined course from March 15-16.

A familiar tournament in the Red Rocks Invitational is next on the schedule and will take place at the Oak Creek Country Club in the Village of Oak Creek, Ariz., from March 20-21. The season ended just before this tournament last year and in the year before the Shockers placed 9th at this event.

The regular season concludes in Broken Arrow, Okla. at the ORU Spring Invite at a TBD course from April 12-13.

This year's American Championships takes place from April 18-20 at the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in Pinehurst, N.C.

Arizona State University will host the 2021 NCAA Championships at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
