12/16/2021 10:00:00 AM

WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State women's golf head coach Tom McCurdy announced the signing of Brooklyn Benn to a National Letter of Intent Thursday morning.

"I am so excited that Brooklyn has signed with Wichita State," McCurdy said. "She has had some great junior golf and high school results, and has the ability to go really low. Brooklyn also has such maturity as a person, is very accomplished academically and has a very positive outlook that will enhance many aspects of our program. She is a great one and I'm thrilled that she's a Shocker."

A native of Edmond, Okla., Benn attends the Oklahoma Christian School where she's had a decorated career. A four-time letterwinner and two-time team captain, Benn won seven individual titles as a junior, including the 3A State title. This past summer Benn tied for first at the Oklahoma Junior Masters and finished in the Final Four at the Texas State Match Play Invitational. Throughout her prep career, Benn won 16 tournaments, including the 2019 Oklahoma Junior Stroke Play Tournament and the Oklahoma Junior Match Play Tournament hosted by OGA. As a freshman she earned nine individual medalist honors, while helping her team to the 2A State Championship. At the 2A State Tournament she placed second with back-to-back rounds of 73. In both 2019 and 2021, Benn recorded the OJGT low round of the season. In the classroom she was named to the Headmasters Honor Roll and was a member of Student Council and the Jamaica Mission Team.

She is the daughter of Brent and Kerri Benn, and has one brother: Bosten. Bosten is a current member of the Oklahoma City University men's golf team. Her mother played soccer at the University of North Texas. She is undecided on a major at Wichita State.
