Shockers Complete Invitational

WICHITA, Kan. – The Shockers recorded 11 personal bests and two all-time top-10 marks, completing the Wichita State Invitational Friday evening at the Heskett Center.
 
Amanda Kakoulias highlighted the day for the women winning the shot put with a personal best mark of 14.57m/47-9.75, the third consecutive week she has improved her mark. Kakoulias' mark ranks No. 6 on the Shocker all-time top-10 list.
 
Success continued for the Shocker women as senior Alesa Frey won the pole vault clearing 4.01m/13-1.75, an indoor personal best. Frey moved to No. 5 on the Shocker all-time top-10 list.
 
Alex Adams won the weight throw with a mark of 17.26m/56-7.5.
 
The Shocker men came away with four event champions including, Cory Martens in the shot put (15.63m/51-3.5), Isaiah Evans in weight throw (19.39m/63-7.5), Mason Buckmaster equaling his personal best in the high jump (2.05m/6-8.75) and Tate McDonald clearing a personal best 4.81m/15-9.25 to win pole vault.
 
Shocker athletes setting personal bests include, Cassidy Androff (weight throw, 13.82m/45-4.25), Abby Smarsh (60m hurdles, 9.41 – 400m, 1:01.67), Aidan Camp (weight throw, 14.96m/49-1), Tristen Dagenais (weight throw, 14.96m/49-1 – high jump, 1.80m/5-10.75), Bryce Merriman (mile, 4:20.85) and Ethan Kossover (mile, 4:19.53).

Wichita State will split into three meets on Feb. 8-9, a select few distance runners will travel west to compete at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., while the rest of the team will split between traveling to Pittsburg, Kan., to compete at the Gorilla Classic, or the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
