WICHITA, Kan. - The Shockers are sending six players to Norman, Okla. to take part in the ITA Central Region Championships at the Headington Family Tennis Center from Oct. 17-22.
This tournament features a qualifying draw and a main draw. Players in the qualifying draw must win two straight matches in order to advance to the main draw. The other universities that will be represented are Tulsa, Missouri, Oklahoma, North Dakota, Creighton, Bradley, Southern Illinois, UAPB, Central Arkansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Southeast Missouri, Kansas State, Iowa, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, Northern Iowa, UMKC, Drake, Iowa State, Kansas, Arkansas State, Western Illinois, Saint Louis, Missouri State, Minnesota, and Omaha.
Wichita State will have three players in each draw.
Marta Bellucco,
Natsumi Kurahashi, and
LingWei Kong will start in the qualifying draw and
Esther Thebault,
Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva, and
Alexandra Lazarova will be featured in the main draw. For the doubles bracket, the Shocker duos will be Thebault/Saidhujaeva, Kurahashi/Lazarova, and Bellucco/Kong.
